Match Update...10 July 2005 vs Ale Vasco
Today was the only day that I was free enough to update my blog. We met Ale Vasco again in a return match. We wanted to prove that we were a better side.
Only 14 players turned up for the match. We did not have any goalkeeper. Luckily, Sazali brought his friend, Adi. As usual we had our two Nigerians.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw. Again, one of the goal was due to a goalkeeping mistake, while the other was a bad mistake by me. I cleared the ball and it hit Reza's shoulder and rebounded past the goalkeeper. However my frustration was not because of the goalkeeping error but of what our 'star player' did.
I shall not name the particular player but his performance on that day was truly selfish and affected the morale of the team. He did notplay to his role as a midfielder and at many times prefer to run with the ball and not utilise the other able players. Imagine the fact that we were attacking most of the time but were unable to score any more goals. Furthermore, look at the goals the opponent scored. It was totally given away on a silver platter by us.
I was fuming mad after the match ended and kept to myself. Many of the players did not want to say anything to that particular player because he scored a truly great goal and he is ..a very good player. But obviously, the morale was low. Yet the player seemed oblivious as to what he had done. His display on the field...in my opinion...cost us the game. By failing to play to instruction and failing to work as a team when he clearly has the chance and ability to do so, he showed indisciplined on the field.
I will clearly take action on this player. No player is above the team. I thus seek your support and hope that you would continue to give your best as you did during the last 2 matches.
